Don't put your iphone next to your head...

If this caught your attention then read on...

I found this interesting article about the possible side affects of mobile phone use. I have always worried that having your phone in your pocket all day and against your head could be causing some problems. I have thought to myself that our grandchildren will regard us in the same way we regard our grandparents with smoking, "how could you not think it was dangerous?!"

Anyway have a read and make up your own minds

Delicious Ice Cream from Jude's

The sun is out today, but it is still a little chilly for an ice cream. However, that doesn't mean you can't look ahead to summer and with that comes ice cream! If you are looking for a change from the standard Cornetto there are plenty of independent ice cream brands out there specilaising in using local products and bringing a more personal touch to ice cream. Keep an eye out for Jude's, some friends of mine make their ice cream and it is delicous!

Do you love to ski or snowboard?

If like me you love skiing but always struggle to find the time to do more of what you love why not consider NONSTOP Ski as an option.

NONSTOP offer improvement courses in Canada from 2-6 weeks in length. They provide expert tuition in some of the best powder resorts in the world. So rather than do your usual trip to the Alps for one week why not do something totally different and see how great skiing is in Canada. (Just in case you are wondering I don't work for these guys, just like what they do)

Have a look at their website and see if it entices you..

Have you heard of Sir Ken Robinson?

If you have then you will know exactly what the rest of this post is talking about, if you have'nt then read on...

Sir Ken Robinson PhD is an internationally recognized leader in the development of creativity, innovation and human resources. He has worked with governments in Europe, Asia and the USA, with international agencies, Fortune 500 companies, and some of the world’s leading cultural organizations.

Aside from this he is an inspirational speaker (his videos have had millions of hits) on education, the profound affect it has on our lives and how he believes that the educations system as we know it is redundant. This may not sound like your cup of tea but trust me he makes the subject extremely interesting and entertaining, spare 17 minutes to watch one of his videos. Hopefully they will inspire you to start thinking differently and recognising the talents that everyone has.

The Harlem Children's Zone

If you have a bit of time make sure you look at the Harlem Children's Zone. This is an inspirational and game changing initiative for education and community in Harlem NY. The success of this project in helping to remove the affects of a poor education have resulted in support from Barak Obama to Sir Ken Robinson.

The HCZ offers a range of programms targetted children and adults in the attempt to reduce the affects of a poor education and to improve the chances of those born into deprived areas such as Harlem. Started in the 1970's the HCZ now spans 100 blocks in Harlem and last year helped over 20,000 people to achieve a higher standard of education.

The HCZ centres around this pipeline that shows how integral their system is to the whole community. Rather than a school only being there for the children during school hours the HCZ is open after school, during holidays and to the parents to ensue that the whole community is catered for.

Don't take my word for it have a look at their site and see for yourself.

The Fun Theory

Have a look at the Fun Theory website here which aims to make the boring tasks more fun, make the difficult decisions in life easier to manage and to influence human behaviour around important social issues like speeding, littering and obesity.

There are some great videos and it is fun.
